The Raider baseball squad went on the road and eked out a 3-2 win over the Northeastern Knights. The Raiders never trailed in this one but things did get a little uncomfortable in the bottom of the 7th. The leadoff batter for the Knights reached base on a walk and an error allowed him advance to 2nd with no one out. The Raider defense then stiffened behind relief pitcher Micah Cole. Cole induced the next batter to pop out to centerfielder Garrett May for the first out. Then May made the defensive play of the game with a diving catch, keeping the tying run at second. Cole then got a pop out to third baseman Aiden Coffey to secure the win. Drew Fredenburg and Jarrett Helman both had 2 hit nights for the Raiders. Fredenburg hit his 2nd HR of the year and singled while Helman had 2 singles. Cole had a single and an RBI and earned his 1st save in relief of winning pitcher Chase Osenbaugh. Osenbaugh was very effective in his first start of the year. The sophomore pitched 4 innings, giving up a single run on 3 hits. He struck out 3 and walked none. Now 2-0 on the season, the Raiders return home tonight to face Rushville at 5:30 before traveling to Centerville on Thursday.
