The Raiders got a 3-2 win in 8 innings over 1A #1 Tri tonight. It was a gutsy performance from the circle from senior Olivia Watson plus a 2 out single off her bat that ultimately gave SHS the win. After giving up 2 runs in the first inning (1 earned), the senior blanked the Titans over the next 7 frames. Watson struck out 11 Titans on the evening. Watson benefitted from an outstanding defensive effort from senior left fielder Tarran Mills. In the top of the 7th with a runner on 2nd, Mills made a diving catch of a line drive and got the ball back into the infield quickly and the Raiders doubled off the Titan runner. Offensively, Shenandoah banged out 7 hits, led by the 3 for 4 night of junior Gabbi Patrick. The Raider centerfielder had 2 doubles and a single and scored a run. Kaelyn Castor and Reese Sprunger had RBIs, Castor's on a double that tied the game in the 5th. Watson's single in the 8th came after Lydia Schwagmeier opened the frame with a walk. After two pop outs, Reese Sprunger singled. Schwagmeier hustled into 3rd base and Sprunger took 2nd on the throw. That led to the Watson heroics on an 0-1 pitch. Her single into left field easily scored Schwagmeier and the Raiders were winners.....raising their record to 7-2 on the season.
