The Raiders started slowly in this one, being shut out over 3 innings......but the bats came alive in the fourth and fifth and SHS was able to down Union County 13-1 in sectional play at Centerville. Another strong performance from Olivia Watson helped propel the Raiders into Thursday night's championship game at 6pm. Freshman Reese Sprunger got the Raiders on the board in the fourth. Trailing 1-0, the Raider Shortstop tripled to open the inning and scored on a passed ball. After a walk to Watson and Alyssa Toffolo, Kaelyn Castor drove home the 2nd Raider run with a single into right field. Castor would later score on a wild pitch. In the 5th inning, the Raiders batted around to put the game away. Lydia Schwagmeier led off with a home run. After 2 walks and a hit batter loaded the bases, Watson walked to force home a run. Olivia Hinesly then drove home 2 with a single. Castor got an RBI on a fielders choice groundout before Schwagmaeir unloaded a double that scored 2 more. The final blow came off the bat of Sprunger as she drove home 3 with a bases loaded double. Watson gave up just 3 hits over the 5 innings, an earned run, and had 11 strike outs (out of 15 total outs).
